Petra Jordan

Petra is the astonishing city in southern Jordan that the Nabateans carved out of rock. Petra is now a United Nations World Heritage Site, a status that helps preserve its main attractions. It is Jordans main tourist attraction and situated to the south on the capital Amman and north of Aqaba on the red sea.

Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow gorge, over 1 kilometer in length, which is flanked on either side by soaring, 80 meters high cliffs which is in places only 3/4 meters wide. Just walking through the Siq is an experience in itself. The colors and formations of the rocks are amazing.

Petra was featured in the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
